Tidal Walk at Semakau Landfill

On 9th March 2008 at 3pm we gather at Marina Pier to Pulau Semakau Landfill. Together with 50 other members of the Public, Jimmy Aw, Loh Y. C. and myself arrived just before Minister Yaacob Ibrahim and family arrives.
We were all looking forward to an enjoyable sea side walk and boarded a ferry that took us almost 60 minutes, if not for the heavy downpour nearer to Semakau Island, the journey would only takes 45 minutes to reach our destination.

We were directed to the Service Custom Lounge and had a briefing of the Island. As it ended the rain stopped and the weather was cool. The tour of the facilities of the Island was made comfortably on a air-conditioned bus guided by a facilitator.
Only at 6pm then we begin to trek into the forested area to reach the seaside where we will begin our enjoyment of the guided tour of the tidal walk by The Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research(RMBR) managed by the National University of Singapore and headed by Ms. Wang Luan Keng and her guides.
The tour was co-ordinated timely with the Low Tide so observation into all the living coral and creatures swimming around the sea water entrapment in between lower lying seabed. Interestingly, we saw different kind of sea-cucumbers, shrimps, star fishes, craps, hermit craps mating, and last but not least a beautiful sunset which I had very few chances to capture on our mainland Singapore.
As they say all good things has to come to an end. The 2 hours tour were very educational, experiencing wading the sea water, breathing fresh sea breeze and of course the very well guided tour by RMBR.
